Pattern drafting coolness
1
Its true I finally drafted my own pattern pieces! I've lost count of the number of times I've said that I'm going to do this - only to chicken out and put it off again.
But now I'm really excited!
I drew out a basic block and extended it to make this basic lolita dress shape. It was way easier than I thought it would be and fits me perfectly!
I used the book Metric Pattern Cutting to create the 'block', all you need is someone to help you measure yourself, some paper to draw on and something with a right angle so you can keep your lines square.
Then you start at 0 and draw lines where it says! Genius!
I would really recommend having a go if you've never done it before.
Next I'm going to have a go at drafting some sleeves and using this pattern to start work on my MM style bib dress.

Very nice and inspiring. Great for your first attempt.
